Door Chimes tips and answers for all entry door bells

Tips for selecting the correct door bells for entry door chime alerting:

Coverage

(1). Doors that are always open (malls and shopping centers) or sometimes left open for fresh air, the (PIR) or heat sensing type of motion sensors are the best and are much better than reflection or light sensing types,that cause many aggravating false signals.

(2). Look at the plastic lens on the motion sensor, if it is curved or rounded, look out for trouble, as it will provide a greater area of coverage, therefore resulting in more aggravating activations and a loss of valuable floor space. This type of lens is a standard in the burglar alarm industry, to provide big area coverage, not just the immediate area below a doorway.

Mr. Chime is the only entry door chime with two U.S. Patents and a lens assembly that was specifically designed to look directly below the entry door, only using one foot of floor space and wide enough to easily cover a double door. Sensor size is also important for installing and for esthetics, the Mr. Chime unit is the size of two 9v (square type) batteries.

Transmission Range

When selecting door bells consider how long will it take to get to the entry being monitored. If you purchase a door chime indicating 1000 feet or more, every time a customer enters the business, someone has to go down 100 stories to welcome the customer, then go back up 100 stories or walk the distance of the three football fields (about 8 to 10 minutes, one way). Therefore, door bells with 100 to 200 feet range, is much better for most average locations.

Does the system have accessories available to fit any particular requirement such as:

(1). Does the manufacturer offer sensors for both open doors (motion sensor) and closed doors (magnetic sensor) on the same system, with a different alerting melody for each entry.
